AFS Call for Papers
With the April 12 deadline fast approaching, we invite you to submit a research paper for presentation at the Academy of Financial Services (AFS) Annual Advanced Research in Financial Planning Conference, taking place October 5-7, 2026, in Las Vegas.
In collaboration with the third Annual CFP Board Connections Conference, this year's conference will feature a robust research track. This is your opportunity to showcase research that informs practice, shapes policy and deepens understanding of how individuals and households make financial decisions.
We welcome submissions across a broad range of topics, including:
- Financial Planning/Financial Planning Education
- Behavioral Finance
- Household Finance
- Human Sciences
- Psychology and Human Decision-Making
- And More!

Completed papers are strongly encouraged and will be prioritized in the review process. All submissions will undergo double-blind peer review and, if accepted, will be selected for either oral or poster presentation.
Award Opportunities AFS Best Paper Award
This award honors high-quality academic contributions to financial planning research among authors presenting papers at the conference. Authors must be AFS members and submit a completed paper.
CFP Board FPLS Best Paper AwardThis award recognizes outstanding research using data from CFP Board's Financial Planning Longitudinal Study (FPLS). The top three papers will be invited to present at the Connections Conference, where the winning author will receive a $1,000 prize.
