This study explores the role of placemaking in strengthening campus– community relationships through a mixed-methods approach at the College of Wooster in Ohio, United States, incorporating interviews, surveys, fieldwork, and external observation. The research identifies seven key themes—hubs, communication, transportation and accessibility, recreation, collaboration, community-facing events, and safety—as fundamental to fostering engagement between the college and its surrounding community. To address identified challenges and opportunities, the study proposes four strategic approaches: eventalization, physical modification, place rebranding, and spatial extension. These strategies align with placemaking principles, emphasizing sociability, accessibility, comfort, and activity to transform the campus into a shared, integrated space. Using a participatory approach and the Applied Methods and Research Experience (AMRE) model, the research emphasizes collaboration and iterative refinement.
