Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) science describes an emerging approach to biomedical research with complementary objectives to Cooperative Extension. Both Extension and D&I researchers wish to share their work broadly, replicating successful interventions, and helping others adopt best practices to improve health for communities. D&I standards, building on widely-accepted translational science methods, provide scaffolding and guidelines for sharing what has proven successful, ensure rigor, and create a collective vision. Cooperative Extension builds on a long history of supporting health with a new focus on equity. This reflective essay outlines areas for alignment throughout Extension for Health Extension and D&I science to strengthen health equity work by providing structure and language familiar to healthcare partners. Collaboration ultimately will maximize each group’s reach and the impacts on public health.
